It’s Time to Build Your Cheering Section

Some of you may be thinking, “But I haven’t even told anyone I’m participating!” If you’ve been waiting to share the news, consider this your encouragement.

When I competed in Miss Colorado USA and later Miss USA, I worried about what my friends would think of my performance. Looking back, I wish I hadn’t let those thoughts take up so much space in an experience worth celebrating.

The response from my coworkers, family, and friends was overwhelmingly supportive. Some even gave me photographs they had taken of their television screens when I appeared during Miss USA! They were excited to know someone who had the courage to step onto that stage, and they were proud of me.

I share this because the people who love you deserve the opportunity to celebrate this experience with you. You don’t have to wait until you feel perfectly prepared to invite them along.

If a friend told you she was performing in a play, wouldn’t you want to be there cheering her on? Give your family and friends that same opportunity. Invite them to get dressed up, enjoy the show, and cheer for you!

The preliminary pageant is Thursday, April 2, at 6 p.m., followed by the final show on April 3 at 4 p.m. Both will be held at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House in the Denver Performing Arts Center.

Everyone needs a ticket including children over 1 years old due to fire code
