Operation Gratitude with Mrs. Broomfield County

Operation Gratitude:

When: collecting  letters all month. I will also be working with schools in the area to collect coloring pages to send to troops.

Writing a letter is a simple and meaningful way for volunteers nationwide to say “Thank You” to all who serve. Your kind words could bring lasting joy to a Care Package recipient.

Operation Gratitude includes handwritten letters in every Care Package sent to our Deployed Troops, Recruit Graduates, Veterans, Wounded Heroes, and First Responders. In these unprecedented times, our heroes need our unwavering support. Taking the time to put pen to paper and share your heartfelt thoughts can be what motivates them to keep moving forward in their duties to our nation.

Join Mrs. Denver with Sandy Hook Promise

Please join Mrs. Denver by supporting, promoting, and donating to the Sandy Hook Promise. This day marks the 12th year since the tragic Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting that took the precious lives of 20 (6 and 7-year-olds); and 4 adult staff members. The Sandy Hook Promise intent is to honor all victims of gun violence; including the random shooting/killing of my husband, Eric, turning these tragedies into a moment of transformation. Together we can help make our schools safer by raising awareness, and encouraging schools to roll-out the SAVE (Students Against Violence Everywhere) Promise Clubs. By empowering our youth to “know the signs”, and uniting all people who value the protection of children we can take meaningful actions in schools, homes and communities to prevent gun violence and stop the tragic loss of life.

Empty Bowl Dinner with Mrs. Tri-Lakes

Empty Bowl Dinner

Join Mrs. Tri-Lakes and the Community to benefit Tri-Lakes Cares. Thursday Oct 3rd from 5-7:30pm @ Lewis Palmer High school

1300 Higby Rd. Monument, CO 80132

“Food insecurity” is a euphemism and a fact of life even in the Tri-Lakes communities. And, it’s only one of the human needs addressed by Tri-Lakes Cares a community-based, volunteersupported, resource center whose purpose is to improve people’s lives through emergency aid, self-sufficiency and relief programs. It is the only food pantry and human services organization located in and serving northern El Paso County. They are the critical resource for those in need. Those needs are great and the fact that Tri-Lakes Cares continues to meet them is a tribute to the organization and the generous community thatprovides support.

Some of that support comes from an event named Empty Bowls. It is dinner meant to remind participants that their participation benefits people to whom “food insecurity” is a reality.

For the past 30 years Monument Hill Kiwanis Club has managed the event that also includes a popular silent auction. This year’s event will be held at Lewis-Palmer High School on Thursday, October 3 from 5 to 7:30 PM.

Ticket price is $25 per person ($30 at the door).  Tickets may be purchased at the Kiwanis website (MHKiwanis.org). To facilitate family participation, one child under the age of 12 is admitted free with a ticket holding adult.  Patrons may select a hand-made bowl and they are provided a meal of soup, bread, beverage and dessert which are provided by donations from local restaurants, merchants, clubs, and churches. Those donations increase the net amount that flows through to Tri-Lakes Cares.
