I'm (Mrs. Denver - Kimberly Dufresne) hoping you can post this information in an effort to have the other delegates join me in reaching out to individual schools and youth organizations in their communities and send an email (sample email included) to their school principal right away; asking for the school or youth organization to participate in this free week-long program that's part of the Sandy Hook Promise. As you know, I lost my husband Eric back on May 18, 2000 due to gun violence. To honor him, I've advocated for mental wellness, and trying to create a culture of inclusion throughout our communities; especially for our most vulnerable population - our children.
Below is a link describing the Sandy Hook Promise - Start with Hello Week program is a national call-to-action week dedicated to making new social connections, and creating a sense of belonging among youth. I've also included the sample email that can be quickly copied, pasted and tailored to the specific principal, school or organization. Then, these schools will have instant access to week-long ideas to promote inclusion throughout the week of September 18th - 22nd, and beyond; as well as social media tools to help further promote these efforts throughout our communities and beyond. Then, I would encourage all delegates to volunteer sometime during that week at the school or organization to help further this very important message and initiative to create a culture of inclusion for all.
